Vitāsek had his third KHL championship last season, with the 29-year-old defender representing the ranks of Khabarovsk’s “Amur”. Prostejov-born hockey player scored 12 points (five goals and seven assists) and 48 penalties in 55 games, but his Amur team ranked ninth in the Eastern Conference, just outside the playoffs.

After last season, the Khabarovsk unit decided not to continue cooperating with the guard.

The hockey player has also previously spent the season in Khanty-Mansiysk’s Jugra and Beijing’s Kununun Red Star, but before going to KHL he played for six years in the Czech Premier League team “Bili Tygri” in Liberec.

The 192 cm long defender has played in the Czech national team at the 2014 World Ice Hockey Championships, as well as at the 2018 Pyongyang Olympic Games. In both tournaments, the national team he represented took fourth place.

Canadian Morgans Eliss, local hockey players Kristaps Sotnieks, Kristaps Zīle, Roberts Mamčičs have already been hired in advance to protect the team, as well as several hockey players with whom a trial period has been concluded. Among these guards also include Canadian hockey player Matthew Mayonnaise, who has previously played for the Riga team.
