Art can take many forms. The museum in Denmark was convinced of this, which the artists paid for the exhibition in advance. The artist then named the exhibition “Take the money and run away” and actually disappeared with the money. The museum is now considering legal action.
Jens Haaning has agreed with the Kunsten Museum in northern Denmark to borrow money from the museum to organize an exhibition for him. According to the agreement, Haaning had created two large glass frames that would represent the revenues of Austria and Denmark.
But when the Aalborg Museum opened the box Haaning had sent, cash was missing in two glass frames and the name of the work of art was changed, Bloomberg.
Haaning thematically renamed the exhibition “Take the Money and Run Away”. The move is intended to protest against the level of rewards that artists receive from museums in Denmark. According to the museum, it lent 542 thousand Danish crowns to the artist, which is approximately 1.8 million crowns.
The curators are now asking the artist to return the money, but the artist refuses. If he does not hand them over by the end of the exhibition in January next year, the museum will contact the police.
