The damage begins in Mladá Boleslav with serial production of Enyaqu

Škoda Auto has started mass production of the Enyaq iV electric SUV at its main plant in Mladá Boleslav. The investment in the reconstruction of the production line reached 32 million euros (approximately 837 million CZK).

The first purely electric SUV from Škoda will be produced on the same line as the Octavia and Karoq models. Up to 350 electric SUVs are produced daily. “The Enyaq iV is Škoda’s first production model to be designed as a purely battery-powered car from the outset. This puts our new SUVs in completely different requirements on production processes and sequence of operations than internal combustion engine models,” said board member Michael Oeljeklaus.

The company has been preparing the Mladá Boleslav plant for the production of the Enyaq iV SUV since the summer of last year. The carmaker modified the statics of the building, in addition to dimensioning the technology for transporting parts to the weight of purely battery cars and assembled components. In addition, Škoda Auto has, for example, introduced safety measures for handling batteries by installing thermal imagers. These cameras continuously monitor the temperature in the production hall and sound an alarm if a deviation is detected.
