The Czechia will receive 15 older Leopard tanks from Germany, and will buy another 50 new ones

“We managed to arrange a donation of 15 Leopard 2A4 tanks with Germany,” Prime Minister Petr Fiala (ODS) announced after the cabinet meeting. Their modernization is planned in the future.

The head of the Ministry of Defense, Černochová, later added that the first of them should be delivered within six months of the description of the contract. She should sign in a few weeks. “The tanks are functional, combat-ready,” the minister emphasized.

According to her, Germany is to appreciate how intensively the Czech Republic supports Ukraine with military equipment.

According to available information, the Czechia also sent T-72 tanks and other heavy combat equipment to the country invaded by Russia.

The Czech Republic is currently negotiating the purchase of up to 50 Leopard version 2A7 + brands of various modifications. “Our army deserves new technology,” the minister said.

She added that the possibility of delivering tanks was also negotiated with the USA, from which it would be possible to get them only in 2030. That is why the Czechia will buy Leopards from Germany.
