The Czechia still has over 5,000 active cases. The virus has mutated, says Prymula

Most since the beginning of the epidemic. The Czechia has 5,180 active cases of coronavirus infection, with 122 more patients on Saturday. There are 114 patients in a serious condition requiring hospitalization.

Lower numbers of people in hospitals may be causing a change in the virus’s behavior during the summer months. “The coronavirus has not disappeared. What is obvious, however, is that the waveforms are lighter. However, we do not influence it too much, it is the function of the virus. It mutated in some way,” epidemiologist Roman Prymula told TN.cz.

“A person does not receive such an infectious dose as when he is in a closed environment,” he explained.

This is how the number of infected people develops in the Czech Republic:

The daily increase in infections has remained above 200 in recent weeks, with labs catching 323 new cases last Friday. There were 175 of them on Saturday and 122 on Sunday. However, less is tested on weekends.

Prymula recalls that drapes are still the most effective protection against Covid-19. “If they are not mandated across the board, people could evaluate where their deployment is appropriate and where not,” he said.

During the whole time, 18,355 cases were confirmed in the Czech Republic, 12,785 people had already recovered and 390 patients had died.
