The Czechia has the first case of a new delta plus mutation

The National Reference Laboratory (NRL) at the SZÚ newly detected one case of the delta plus variant in the South Moravian Region.

“A 30-year-old woman from the South Moravian Region is infected. The case was investigated by the relevant Regional Hygiene Station and no further occurrence of the disease was recorded, “specified the director of the State Institute of Public Health Barbora Macková.

It is not yet certain whether delta plus behaves differently than other variants. So far, 196 cases have been reported in Europe, most often in Portugal.

The delta that has spread in India is much more contagious, but scientists say it is not causing a worse course of the disease.

The so-called alpha variant, or the British mutation, which spread in our country at the beginning of the year, is represented in the Czech Republic by about ten percent, the South African and Brazilian variants by about one percent.

According to the Minister of the Interior and the chairman of the CSSD, Jan Hamáček, it is necessary to respond to the spread of the delta.

“The best response is to get vaccinated. I have also been vaccinated and I would recommend it to anyone who cannot be vaccinated. The fact that the government is slowly opening up the possibility of vaccination without registration is another step in speeding up vaccination, “Hamáček said on Monday.
