the cult game returns to iPhone and iPad

Notice to nostalgics! Thirty years after its release, the mythical video game Myst arrives in its remastered version on iPhone and iPad. Enough to allow the elders to dive back into their memories and the young people to discover a cult title!

A good video game remains so regardless of the era, and it is not the many ports, remakes and remasters that will tell us the opposite! The latter are good ways to transcend the ages and to make (re)discover, to the old ones of the day before as to the new generation of players, the works that have marked the history of video games while taking advantage of the latest technologies. Just look at, among other things, the success of the remake of Final Fantasy VII ! This time, it’s the turn of iPhone and iPad owners to be delighted since one of the games that have marked the video game industry is coming to the App Store: Myst Mobile. It is neither more nor less than the port to Apple’s portable devices of the legendary game, but in its remastered version of 2021.

Myst Mobile: the 2021 remake on mobile

Released in 1993, Myst is a point & click adventure game – the player must click to move his character and interact with the environment to solve puzzles – which made an impression with its gripping story, its immersive gameplay, its dreamlike visual and bewitching atmosphere. The player finds himself teleported to a mysterious island and must explore different worlds to understand what is happening to him.

Myst has been brought up to date many times: for the first time under the name of Myst: The Apogee in 1999, then realMyst in 2000 and realMyst : Masterpiece Edition in 2014. The game was then remastered with realistic 3D graphics brought by the Unreal Engine in 2022 on PC and VR headsets. Something to sublimate and reinforce the immersion! In addition, the audio has been reworked and an optional function added to have puzzles modified – which is useful when you have already finished the game.

Be careful, not everyone will be able to take advantage of it, because the device must be equipped with an A12 Bionic chip or more recent. The game will therefore be compatible with the iPhone XS, XS Max and XR, as well as with the iPad from 8^e generation, the iPad Air of 3^e generation, the iPad mini of 5^e generation and most other newer models. Players will be able to visit and play in the first world for free, to see if the game fully suits them, after which they will have to pay the sum of 15.99 euros if they wish to continue the adventure. Myst Mobile does not yet have a definitive release date but, in the meantime, it is still possible to play the original version of the title, available on the App Store for 5.99 euros.
