The Cross of Lampedusa reaches the diocese of Asidonia-Jerez | Radio Jerez

The Cruz de Lampedusa will arrive at the Diocese of Asidonia-Jerez this Monday, February 17 how symbol of humanity’s suffering and specifically of many migrants who lost their lives in the Mediterranean Sea, in the face of the world’s indifference.

This cross is made with the remains of wood from the wrecked boats on the Lampedusa coast and in April 2014, the Italian foundation Casa del Espíritu y de las Artes presented it to Pope Francis, who blessed her and commissioned them: “Take her everywhere.” In fact, this Cross also Its objective is to transmit a message of solidarity, fraternity and communion among peoples.

The entities of the Diocesan Table “Enlázate por la Justicia” (made up of Cáritas Diocesana de Asidonia-Jerez, CONFER, Redes, Diocesan Delegation of Social Pastoral and Manos Unidas) have organized the route of the Cross of Lampedusa in the Diocese that will begin with his arrival this Monday at the Church of Santo Domingo at 7:00 p.m. An act that will be enlivened by the group ‘Small People’, a Catholic music group from Jerez that was born from the Pastoral de la Salle in Andalusia.

On Tuesday in the morning it has been organized in the chapel of Colegio La Salle Buen Pastor an activity focused on students from surrounding schools and in the afternoon, the Cross will arrive at the parish of El Pilar. While on Wednesday it will be in Bornos and on Thursday they will welcome her in El Puerto de Santa María. In this way, the arciprestazgos of the mountains and the coast will also participate in meetings around the Cross.

By last, this Friday at 18:30, a Eucharist in the parish of San Dionisio, officiated by Monsignor José Mazuelos, Bishop of the Diocese of Asidonia-Jerez.
