The credits for “notebooks” would reach 30 thousand students

Less than four days before the beginning of the school year under the mixed modality – face-to-face and virtual -, Governor Juan Schiaretti announced yesterday a line of soft credits for the acquisition of notebooks aimed especially at the middle class. The measure generated expectations both in the commercial sector and among the benchmarks that focus on the need to bridge the digital divide and expand connectivity.

The new line of credit completes a triad of announcements that began last year when the governor launched a plan to purchase 50,000 computers for students from vulnerable groups. In January of this year, it doubled that figure and brought the Province’s investment to 100,000 machines.

Yesterday he completed this technological renewal pack with the launch of the Dale Notebook credit line, aimed at “financing notebooks for family groups with children enrolled in the second cycle of secondary school in public or private management centers.” They can be accessed by families with students in the fourth to sixth year of common schools and fourth to seventh of technical schools.

“I am glad that we have this program of Educational Digital Inclusion underway so that families can access to buy a computer for their children. Parents always sacrifice things so that their children have the elements they need to progress in life, this is the history of our Córdoba and our life, the history of upward social mobility ”, said the governor at the event at the Center Civic.

Terms

The amount assigned for this new line will be 2,000 million pesos, as announced by the Province. The loan will be financed by Banco de Córdoba.

It provides for a maximum amount of 100,000 pesos, payable in 24 equal monthly installments, with a fixed rate of 18% TNA, until the line quota is exhausted.

At a minimum, the program has the potential to reach 20 thousand students, if the total amount of the line is taken and the maximum expenditure that can be made per product. However, the president of the Banco de Córdoba, Daniel Tillard, estimated that an average loan of 60 thousand pesos will be taken, with a monthly installment of 3,223 pesos. With this calculation, the number of beneficiaries would increase to more than 30 thousand.

To access the credit, the income of the family group must not exceed six minimum, vital and mobile wages (SMVM) and the fee must not exceed 10 percent of the monthly income. Registration will be open from March 15, through the Digital Citizen platform. Once the qualification has been approved, the credit can be managed in the businesses that adhere to the program through the digital platform.

Covid-19 accelerated the use of new technology in the education of our children, so we are going to provide the necessary tools to go hand in hand with the technological development that is being experienced worldwide, because this advance is here to stay . If resources are lacking, the Province will provide the necessary funds and the Bank of Córdoba as well ”, said Schiaretti, who was accompanied during the presentation of the program by the Ministers of Coordination, Industry and Education, Silvina Rivero, Eduardo Accastello and Walter Grahovac.

Commercial section

For Luis Méndez, president of the Chamber of Commerce of Household Appliances and Household Goods of Córdoba, the announcement of the provincial government will become an important injection for the item.

“The credits that the Province places with the Bank of Córdoba will trigger the sale of notebooks. We suppose that the consumption of this type of product is going to be reactivated ”, considered the businessman and director of Ama Hogar, adding that the sale of 10,000 units would be a good number for the entire sector.

A standard notebook starts at 60 thousand pesos onwards. That is the price of a machine with a Celeron processor in its economy version. A computer with an I3 processor is close to 80 thousand pesos.

For his part, the secretary of the Mediterranean Chamber of Electronic Commerce (Camese) Guillermo Montenegro considered that the social impact of the measure is “very positive.” “It is good news, the provincial government has to accompany this with connectivity, which has to be a reason of State”

“The notebook by itself and without connectivity doesn’t make much sense. You have to have a holistic and comprehensive look at the problem and that look tells us that connectivity is as important as hardware. Access to the internet is just as important as access to electricity. It is the best way to equalize possibilities ”, added Montenegro.

Inscriptions. As of March 15, families interested in obtaining the credit will be able to access the provincial platform Ciudadano Digital (Cidi) and apply to obtain the credit for the acquisition of notebooks.
