The creator of McLaren F1 presented his carmaker’s second model

Introduced Gordon Murray Automotive (GMA) T.50, a breathtaking successor to the legendary McLaren F1, will not be the only new supersport designed by Murray. This is shown by the machine called T.33, which the company introduced.

Compared to the T.50, the T.33 is a bit heavier, but about the same size. It does not have active aerodynamic elements, the gros of its aerodynamics is a special covering of the chassis, which is supposed to create pressure, but it does not move by itself.

Behind the two-seater cab, the same four-liter twelve-cylinder works as in the T.50, but with a lower maximum speed – 11,100 instead of 12,100 – and also lower power. It gives 615 horses and 451 Nm.

Its lower speed torque is higher to make it easier to drive normally, and it is equipped with a 48V mild hybrid system. Technical changes are in different cylinder heads, camshafts and a modified variable valve timing system.

The modified twelve-cylinder is marked “V12.2” on the valve covers and still has no overcharging.

The transmission is a six-speed manual transmission from Xtrac. On request, it is also possible to have a gearbox with sequential shifting and immediate quality change from the same company that calls this system IGS (Instantaneous Gear Shift).

It has two gears at once, but thanks to a special system using ratchets and latches between the gears and the main shaft, one of them rotates. When the driver wants to shift, it is not necessary to move the gears on the shafts through the timing rings as with a conventional shaft gearbox, but only to change the ratchet latch, which is faster.

The risk is, of course, rapid wear and tear, but for a car that does not count on hundreds of thousands of raids, on the contrary, astronomical operating costs do, it will not bother the owner so much, we estimate.

Finally, the car’s specifications also mention the possibility of installing an extended sixth quality, which will reduce consumption and thus increase the range to 75 l tank from 644 to 708 km.

Compared to the T.50, there is also a fundamentally modified suspension, among other things due to the different weight distribution. The front trapezoidal suspension uses an auxiliary frame, but the rear one is attached directly to the gearbox housing. It thus forms part of the structural part of the chassis with the engine.

The seats in the interior of the presented piece are each differently colored, similar to the T.50, where the driver has a seat other than the passengers. T.33 has no touch screen, all displays are taken care of by two displays on the sides of the central analog tachometer. The left one provides information about the car, the right one is infotainment and also manages Android Auto or Apple CarPlay.

The paddles under the steering wheel are also worth mentioning. It is not used for shifting, according to the pictograms the left controls the high beam, the right the horn, the turn signals are then activated by buttons on the steering wheel. The classic lever on the center console is used for shifting.

The mentioned practicality concerns a total of 280 liters of cargo space – but not in one luggage compartment, as is common in normal cars. Small bags can be placed under the front hood and also on both sides of the car behind the door.

The design inspiration was the sports cars of the 1960s.

Murray will charge from 1.4 million pounds (41 million crowns) for T.33 and there will be no more than 100 pieces, so if you are interested, hurry up.

Prototype tests will take place this summer, and cars are to be delivered to customers during 2024.
