Conmebol is still looking for ways to resume international tournaments and received a proposal with which the Copa Libertadores could be played again. It would basically be to replicate the same model used by Uefa in the Champions League and Europa League: a unique venue.
As reported by Ovación, the President of Uruguay, Luis Lacalle Pou, contacted the president of Conmebol, Alejandro Domínguez, to offer Montevideo, Colonia and Punta del Este as headquarters, also thinking of reactivating the country economically.
According to the information, Uruguay has an advantage over Paraguay, which also offered to organize parties, because it has more successfully controlled the coronavirus pandemic, within the countries of South America.
Recall that only two dates have been played in the Copa Libertadores group stage. Uruguay will wait for Conmebol’s response until August.
