Here, everyone requires a corona passport

In Manhattan, it is hardly possible to move around in public if you do not have the corona passport or proof that you have been vaccinated with at least two doses.

In New York, all restaurants and bars require a corona pass to enter. The same goes for concerts, sporting events and museums around the city.

This is something the Brazilian president experienced, among other things, when he visited the city during the UN high-level week last autumn. Because he was not vaccinated, he was refused entry to a restaurant, and had to enjoy his pizza on the street, along with other members of the Brazilian delegation.

The vaccine passport requirement was introduced on August 16 last year, at a time when only 56 percent of all New Yorkers were vaccinated. The demand met with little resistance and is now almost universally accepted in the big city.

In addition, around two million people have registered for Excelsior Pass Plus, which is a timeless digital copy of the vaccine passport for those who have received the booster vaccine.

The cultural industry requires a corona passport

While the Danes are now seeing the light of day after Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen on Wednesday will probably announce the lifting of all coronary restrictions from 31 January, Norwegian restaurant owners are characterized by melancholy.

Less than two weeks ago, the cultural industry came up with a total requirement for a corona passport. They requested that the temporary use of corona certificates be introduced as soon as possible, it was stated in a letter to the health authorities from six of the country’s largest cultural organizations.

So far, no decision has been made about corona passports in Norway.

– Can be carriers

– We now have a corona passport for investigation in Norway. But we have also tried to point out that there are many aspects to this, which we want the public health authorities to inform us about, Støre tells Nettavisen.

– Among other things, it is to have a green corona passport when omikron is here, so we know that both people who have one, two and three vaccines can be carriers, they can be infected and can transmit infection, says the Prime Minister.

– So then the question is what is the value of having a green corona passport.

– But all measures that can make us better equipped deserve to be looked at and we have asked the National Institute of Public Health and the Norwegian Directorate of Health to do so, and then we will share it when we receive that information, says Støre to Nettavisen.

NIPH: – Evaluates concrete proposals

Assistant director of the Norwegian Institute of Public Health Gun Peggy Knudsen tells Nettavisen that she has difficulty seeing that a corona pass will have any effect in stopping the spread of infection. On the other hand, she sees that it can contribute to reopening for the vaccinated, and protect the unvaccinated from serious illness. FHI has no clear figures on this yet.

The seas: FHI on corona passports: – We work with concrete proposals

– We are working on evaluating specific proposals on how corona certificates can be used at events and restaurants. It is then up to the government to decide if and how this may be used, Knudsen writes to Nettavisen.

The Danes require a corona passport

As early as 16 January this year, Danes could once again go to theaters, concerts, cinemas and museums.

Danish cultural life was then back after a month of closure, even though the pressure of infection was still high. The health authorities then recommended an audience ceiling of 350, but the government chose to allow up to 500 people to participate in cultural events.

The reliefs also applied to zoos and amusement parks, so Tivoli could also reopen. In most places, however, the audience had to show a corona passport and wear a bandage.

– Korona passport in Norway is a bad idea

Professor of social medicine, Steinar Westin, stated last week that due to the emergence of the omicron variant, there is no longer any point in introducing a domestic corona certificate in Norway.

– I think that domestic use of corona passports in Norway is a bad idea. First and foremost, it will lead to discrimination, which I do not like very much. I think that in Norway people should continue to treat each other as equally as possible, and unvaccinated people should also be treated nicely. Secondly, the omicron variant is highly contagious even among vaccinated people, and you can be contagious before you have become ill, Westin said. Dagbladet

– In sum, I think it is good to acknowledge that the race has been run for domestic use of corona passports in Norway, says Westin.

New law on vaccine passports

In France, on the other hand, unvaccinated people will be banned from restaurants and sports arenas, as a new law on the corona passport comes into force on Monday. The scheme involves documenting that you have either been fully vaccinated or have recently had covid-19.

Koronapass is now required to visit French restaurants, bars, tourist sites and sports arenas.

In the Netherlands, on the other hand, some of Europe’s strictest corona measures will be lifted on Wednesday, when bars, restaurants and museums will once again have their doors open, reports NTB.

From Wednesday, cafés, restaurants and bars will be open until 10 pm, provided guests have a corona pass, wear a face mask when not seated, and capacity will be reduced.
