The Heimatschutz successfully defends itself against the covering of historical inscriptions in the Niederdorf.
The controversy surrounding the word “Mohr” moves Zurich. When the city council made the fundamental decision two years ago to have inscriptions in Niederdorf removed because they were discriminatory, it met with some approval, but in many places with incomprehension, as was clearly shown in the columns of letters to the editor. Mayor Corine Mauch (SP) justified the step at the time: “Racism cannot and must not be tolerated.”
