Sony has introduced a new Android smartphone that can be a model for other manufacturers, at least in one detail. Yet another improvement has also been introduced.

Sony Xperia 1 II

So far only in Japan does Sony have an improved version of the Xperia 1 II brought on the market. The new version is characterized by two special features. First there is the RAM. This increases from 8 to 12 GB of RAM. This means that Japanese customers get 4 GB more RAM. The new color “Frosted Black” is much more interesting. At first it doesn’t sound very spectacular, but it has a huge advantage compared to the black version in Germany. The back is “frosted” and appears matt due to the “frosted glass” – reported Xperia Blog. The effect is particularly evident in a direct comparison:

The back of the new model is matt and you basically don’t see any dirt or fingerprints on it. The smartphone also looks a bit thinner and smaller, although the devices are exactly the same and only differ from the back. Sony has definitely found a nice design here to bring the new version into focus. Other manufacturers are also welcome to do this. Then you can do without a cheap case on your smartphone for a change without worrying that the smartphone will slip out of your hand because it is so smooth.

The trend towards glossy backs has meanwhile been sucked out anyway. Manufacturers such as Apple or Samsung only offer individual models with a matt finish and advertise this as an additional premium feature. It would be nice if the trend prevailed and matt options were soon available in addition to shiny and colorful cell phones. For a change, Sony is a pioneer and not a laggard.
