The compatibility between PSVR2 and “Gran Turismo 7” is outstanding! Excited about the more attractive driving experience[Pre-experience]-MoguLive

On February 22, along with the release of PlayStation VR2 (PSVR2),Gran Turismo 7” is scheduled for a free update that you can play in VR mode. As a result, most game contents, including online, can now be played on PSVR2.

Furthermore, in the new function “VR Showroom”, you will be able to appreciate the interior of the car that appears in the game. At MoguLive, we had a preliminary experience of the main part of the game at the media experience meeting.

A racing experience with a completely different “field of view”

This time, I experienced two things, “Time Trial” and “VR Showroom”. First, challenge the race with “Time Trial”. Playing with PSVR2 is almost possible except for two-player battles, and you can choose cars and courses without restrictions in the experience.

Regarding the controller, the “DualSense” attached to the PS5 main unit and the handle controller are compatible (* “PlayStation VR2 Sense” attached to PSVR2 is not compatible). I tried both at this trial session, but there were no problems with the operation, and the conventional assist function was easy to see and I was able to play comfortably.

After trying it out, I think the FPS (*frame rate) of the video is stable, and the overall finish is less likely to cause VR sickness. There are individual differences in screen sickness, but I felt that even users who had never experienced VR for the first time could easily enter, including the high quality of the PSVR2 main unit.

I think the number one feature of racing in VR is that the amount of information in the field of view is different. For example, if you run a convertible on the Tokyo Expressway course in Tokyo, you can see the buildings, but if you run an F1 car, you can’t see the surroundings.

Until now, it was possible to play from a first-person perspective, but when you actually play from a first-person perspective using VR, the amount of information on the entire screen changes greatly, such as buildings and artifacts that were not shown before. , Please try it.

This time it was a “time trial”, so it was just one car, but if you race with multiple cars, you’ll be able to feel even more realism, such as the cars you’re competing with approaching you.

There was also a scene that made use of PSVR2’s haptics function. For example, if you hit a wall while speeding up, the PSVR2 will vibrate and you will experience an actual impact. However, the vibration is modest and can be turned off in the settings, so if you want to concentrate on driving, you can turn it off.

There is also a replay function dedicated to VR. If you select a song from the item that plays the replay for VR, the replay will automatically flow. Since I was standing on the track from my point of view, I could feel the power of the cars up close. .

“VR Showroom” where you can appreciate over 450 cars up close

The “VR Showroom” added this time is a function that allows you to appreciate most of the cars included in “Gran Turismo 7”. There are over 450 of them. (*Vehicles created in “Vision Gran Turismo” are not included.) The dream of seeing the actual vehicles that appear in the game in VR has come true.

In the “VR Showroom”, there are multiple viewing spaces. There were various indoor and outdoor situations such as pits, garages, and cafes in the forest. The lighting and environmental sounds are different in each location, so it would be nice to change the atmosphere of the space according to the car you want to see.”

When you select a location, a car appears in front of you with the sound of a car engine. It can be operated with a stick, but since the speed of viewpoint movement is slow, the basic method is to change the angle by 45 degrees with the LR button. You can adjust the height of the viewpoint with the L3R3 buttons to see things like inside the wheel. If you want to see the interior, you can switch by pressing the □ button.

Although it was supposed to be seen by operating the controller, I unintentionally approached and saw it. No matter where you look at it, it’s well-crafted, and the quality is such that even the author, who doesn’t have much knowledge about cars, will be fascinated by it (by the way, if you get too close, it will be out of the play area and you won’t be able to see it).

“Gran Turismo 7” includes a wide range of cars, from competitive cars like the “Toyota Supra GT500 ’97” to general passenger cars like the “Toyota Aqua S ’11”. Of course, each maker has its own personality, but each era has its own characteristics, so I was excited to see what kind of cars were available during the experience. It goes without saying that each type of car has a completely different interior, such as the steering wheel and seats. When I get into my usual private car, I can see the surroundings with a familiar feeling, and when I get into an F1 car, it makes me think, “Isn’t it impossible to run fast with this view?”

The “VR Showroom” alone is worth an update, so be sure to check it out.

Just looking at the 3D model of the car is worth the purchase

In order to enjoy “Gran Turismo 7” in VR, PS5, PSVR2 and software are required, but you may be wondering if it is worth purchasing. As someone who has actually experienced it, I believe that it is worth buying for those who are fascinated by “3D models of cars”.

Just looking at the more than 450 cars recorded in the “VR Showroom” is a satisfying finish. Even when playing a race, the well-crafted interior enhances the immersive feeling while driving. As with the steering wheel controller, purchasing a PSVR2 may be an option to enhance the “actual feeling of driving”.

The author believes that 3D models viewed in VR have a much higher sense of immersion and realism. Combining VR with Gran Turismo 7 has made the 3D model experience and driving experience even more appealing. This is a satisfying update for those who enjoy Gran Turismo, so please buy PSVR2 and play with it.
