The circus inventory and design store “Circus Guest Room” has been opened in the Riga Circus and will be open until September 5. “Circus Living Room” will offer not only to try and buy various circus tools, but also invite you to free tours of the Riga Circus. Currently – shortly before the reconstruction of the circus building – it is one of the last opportunities to explore the historic building, the representatives of the Riga circus informed.
The “Circus Living Room” provides information about the activities of the Riga Circus School and about applying for children’s and adults’ classes. In the shop you can also buy tickets to the last circus show in the arena before the reconstruction of the building – to the circus association “Kaaos Kaamos” (Sweden) show “Babel, Glöm *”, which will take place on September 2, 3 and 4.

Starting from August 20, there will also be circus talks in the living room – you can follow them in person or online. On Fridays, only online, as speakers from other countries are also invited.
Various people close to the Riga Circus are invited to the talks: Association of Artists Resident in the Riga Circus “Fauna”, circus school teachers Maija Sukute, Dmitrijs Pudovs and Aleksejs Smolovs, circus archive manager Elvīra Avota, Riga circus renovation authors – architects Ingrīda Pičukāne, artist of the circus welfare residency program, Gabriels Gots and Edgars Niklasons and others, creators of the play “Illusionist Living Room”.
“Currently, a lot of exciting things are happening in the circus – the performances are only the visible part of the iceberg.
To show the rest, we decided to invite visitors.
Not for the show, but also for a coffee or excursion, to find out about the future of the circus, talk to circus artists and buy a juggling ball, ”says Māris Pāvula, Strategic Development Manager of Riga Circus, who mentions that these three weeks could be called open days in the Riga circus.

The Circus Living Room will be open from 14 August until 5 September. From Tuesday to Friday, the door will be open from 12:00 until 20:00, and on Saturdays from 10:00 until 18:00.
From August 25 to 29, small excursions around the circus behind the scenes will be organized together with Riga circus employees by prior appointment. On Saturdays – August 22 and 29 and September 5, by prior arrangement, it will be possible to attend family mornings, where it will be possible to learn how to manipulate objects, make your own juggling equipment, play a circus game and experience various miracles.
It will be possible to apply for excursions and family mornings on the spot in the “Circus Living Room” or “Facebook” – “Circus Living Room” event.
Riga Circus
Riga Circus is a multifunctional art center, which purposefully works not only to offer significant and topical circus performances to an ever wider audience, but also in the long run promotes the development and recognition of the circus industry in Latvia and internationally.
It is planned that the energy efficiency reconstruction project of the Riga Circus building will start in the autumn of 2020. The project was developed by the architectural firm “NRJA”.
