The Central Government decided to take a long holiday, Anies: Yes!

KONTAN.CO.ID – JAKARTA. DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said that his party had asked the central government to re-evaluate the determination of leave with the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad SAW.

It should be noted, the government decided to make October 28 and October 30, 2020 as a holiday with the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad SAW.

Thus, there will be a five-day long holiday, from 28 October to 1 November 2020.

According to Anies, an evaluation of the determination of joint leave needs to be done to anticipate a spike in post-holiday Covid-19 cases.

“Actually, three weeks ago we recommended that in a meeting with the group (task of accelerating the handling of Covid), consider the matter of holidays, long holidays,” said Anies at Polda Metro Jaya, South Jakarta, Monday (26/10/2020).

However, the central government still stipulates collective leave on October 28 and 30. Therefore, the DKI Provincial Government can only anticipate a spike in Covid-19 cases after a long holiday by ensuring the availability of isolation beds and ICUs in 98 referral hospitals.

“The central government has decided to continue the long holiday. Yes, it is the decision of the central government, now we are anticipating all the side effects,” said Anies.

“Anticipation means we have to be ready for the number of beds, then testing and tracing activities because the experience of the long holiday afterwards there is a surge (in the Covid-19 case),” he continued.

Previously, Anies decided to extend the large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) for two weeks from October 26 to November 8, 2020. The extension was stated in the Decree of the Governor of DKI Jakarta Province Number 1020 of 2020.
