Nadine Trudel received this ring in the mail that she had never ordered. The jewel appeared to be of rose gold and adorned with three precious stones. It was packed in a box and a nice little bag in the image of the luxury firm.

On Saturday, the TVA Nouvelles team went to meet Carmen Rivet, owner of Bijouterie Rivet and specializing in precious stones.

At first glance, some details might suggest that it is a Cartier ring, such as the inscription inside the ring and the 18-carat hallmark.

“It’s hallmarked in the European style. There is even a serial number, ”explains the specialist.

The first test was to see if it was indeed 18 karat gold.

“When doing my line, it’s funny because the ring is in rose gold and my line is white. It shows me that pink is a surface, it is a metal that has been plated and underneath it is another metal. Cartier would never do something like that, ”she says.

As for the stones on the ring, using her microscope, Ms. Rivet immediately determined that it was not a diamond, but only pieces of glass covered with a shiny coating.

“Wear this for a week and it won’t look pretty at all,” she concludes.

The authorities are doing prevention since it is a scam style “brushingWhich consists of sending fake packets in order to increase sales traffic to its site.
