According to the authorities, most of the cases of infection with the new strain in Great Britain were registered in the Capital, but also one of the two cases of infection with the South African strain detected in Romania. The city of Bucharest came out of the red script on January 25th.
The capital does not yet have a prefect in office. The meeting of the Committee for Emergency Situations will be chaired by the sub-prefect. Liberal Prime Minister Florin Cîțu announced on Wednesday that the prefect of Bucharest, Traian Berbeceanu, was released from office. No replacement has been nominated yet. The position of prefect of Bucharest returns to USR-PLUS. The alliance announced that it is proposing Alin Stoica, lawyer and president of the PLUS Sector 6 branch, for this position.
What could close after the Capital enters the red scenario
Officials must decide on Saturday whether in Bucharest the activity of the restaurants will be closed inside, performance halls, theaters, gambling halls and schools.
The decision will also be influenced by the figures that will be communicated by the Public Health Directorate. If the incidence rate stays above 3, most likely all these activities will be suspended. The red scenario stipulates that wearing a protective mask should become mandatory for all persons who have reached the age of 5, in all open public spaces.
The capital was in the red script for another 3 months, from October 20 to January 20. Infection rate fell below the threshold of 3 on January 20, and after another 5 days the restaurants were able to reopen indoors, but at a reduced capacity. At the same time, on February 8, when the school year started, all the students went to school.
