The new accommodation places are located in the civil defense facility Katzenschwanz in the city of Zurich and in the former staff building of the Zurich city hospital Triemli, the security department announced on Friday.
Approximately 100 seats are available in both venues. Employees of the Asylum Organization Zurich (AOZ) are responsible for the management and assistance of refugees.
The canton of Zurich operates a total of 18 accommodations for asylum seekers and persons with protection status S. In order to guarantee assistance, the director of security Mario Fehr (independent) has renewed his request to the federal government to decide a subsidiary deployment of members of the military.
