However, some doctors and nurses who work on the front lines with patients do not have enough masks to protect themselves. Home nurses have expresses their misunderstanding that they are not among the priority profiles to receive the precious protection.
Virologist and epidemiologist Marc Van Ranst therefore published an appeal to citizens on social networks: “Dear friends, you have massively bought oral masks from the pharmacist. Our nurses and doctors now really need these masks. Could you drop these boxes off at the front desk of the hospital closest to you? This is how you will really help people working in health care! ”
Doctor Van Ranst then clarified that “for citizens who walk on the street”, these masks “are useless. For nurses and doctors who save the lives of COVID19 patients, masks are essential”.
