The British tested the Dacia Duster. The SUV from Mioveni, with good and bad

The Dacia Duster facelift reached the British at CarWow in tests. Mat Watson made a test drive with the new version of the local SUV.

The Duster model, now in its second generation, has received a facelift to refresh its image.

The journalist was pleasantly surprised by the ergonomics and space offered by the interior of the car. In fact, certain punctual details, such as the simplicity of the design or the material on the chairs, made a good impression on Mat Watson.

He liked the new multimedia system he is equipped with Duster faceliftbut also that it can now be ordered with a blind spot assistant, or the climate with digital screens, which he compared to that of an Audi R8.

He said he was pleased with the volume of the trunk and the fact that a full-size spare wheel is provided.

Dacia Duster, with good and bad

Mat Watson found a number of aspects that pleasantly surprised him. Here they are:

  1. The rear seat belt holder, which does not allow the seat to be fastened when the seat belt is folded back;
  2. The all-wheel drive system with which the car can be equipped;
  3. The way the front seats can be folded down just by pulling on a handle;
  4. Mounted rooms, which offer a good view of things in the vicinity of the car;
  5. Shock absorbers that support the bonnet.

Dacia Duster also has its parts less good. What bothered journalist Mat Watson?

  1. If the armrest is extended, the cup holders are covered. The parking brake is also restricted;
  2. The doors do not cover the sills, which can lead to the pants getting dirty when you get out of the car;
  3. The safety panel is positioned in the torpedo, which reduces its capacity;
  4. How the tank flap is operated. The fact that it has to be opened manually every time, with the help of a handle next to the driver’s seat, bothers the Briton;
  5. The fact that only the driver’s window has a car function, and the passenger’s does not.

Mat Watson liked the way the Romanian SUV drives. The controls are easy and the visibility is good. The suspension is soft and absorbs road imperfections, but sometimes strange sounds can be heard when the car is speeding over bumps. The soft suspension shows its disadvantages in corners, because the journalist found the roll of the Duster model to be quite pronounced.

The noise in the cab is also pronounced, especially at highway speeds. He also complained about how noisy the diesel engine the car is equipped with.

However, the price can play an important factor and can compensate for some of the disadvantages that Duster has. The starting price is 15,000 pounds, and the English journalist considers Duster to be a worthy option to consider.
