Kallambalam: The bride was found strangled to death in the toilet of her husband’s house. Athira (24) died at Sunitha Bhavan in Muthana Gurunagar. The marriage took place a month and a half ago. The incident took place yesterday morning when no one else was at home. The information is known to the outside world by noon.
At 8 in the morning, Sunitha’s husband went to the hospital in Kollam with her father Sarath, who lives nearby. When Athira’s mother Sreena came home from Varkala Venni at 11 am, the door was still open. The phone was switched off when Athira called without seeing him. Then Sarath, who was returning from the hospital, contacted his father on the phone.
When Sarath finally arrived and checked, he found a peg inside the toilet. Police said Athira broke down the door and went inside, but was strangled to death. A knife was also found nearby.
