The boy did not have internet at home, he went to the school building for local wi-fi

Jonathon Endecott is in fourth grade in Roswell, New Mexico, United States. The introduction of new measures against the spread of Covid-19 caused a number of problems for his family. His mother, Angel Endecott, lost her job and did not have enough money to provide a home Internet. With the new regulations, distance learning was introduced, to which the boy from the house could not join.

The family lives not far from the school, so the boy thought to continue going to the school grounds, where he could join the wi-fi. He did not want to miss his online lessons. “Even the fact that he was just outside the building gave him the feeling that he was in school,” she told pro CNN Angel Endecottová.

The schoolboy was soon noticed in front of the school building by a teacher who took a picture of the boy and, with his mother’s permission, shared the picture on Facebook. The story spread quickly, and a donor was soon found who paid Jonathon’s internet for a year. Jonathon is happy that he can now cope with school responsibilities better and can also communicate with his classmates more often.

Jonathon’s story is certainly not unique and many households face problems with online teaching. A collection has been set up on the GoFundMe server to support these families and raise money for home internet connections for other schoolchildren.

Distance learning drives parents crazy. Especially those with first graders. Watch the TV Nova report:
