The Boiron laboratory cuts 600 jobs in France and closes its site in Isneauville, near Rouen

Boiron confirmed Wednesday 11 March 2020 the fears of its unions: the laboratory announced more than 600 job cuts in France, about a quarter of its workforce in the country, putting this decision on the account of the reimbursement of homeopathy decided by the government.

In total, 13 of the 31 Boiron sites in France will be closed, including that ofIsneauville, near Rouen, as well as the Montrichard plant (Loir-et-Cher), one of its three production sites in the area. A total of 646 positions will be cut, the group, which presented the plan to unions in the morning, told AFP.

This plan, which will only concern the French part of the group’s around 3,700 employees worldwide, is necessary for ” perpetuate the company and secure its future and that of the employees who remain “, said the laboratory.
In this project, there are the creation of 134 positions and also a new organization of our commercial teams to be able to adapt to this new situation “, he said, adding that international subsidiaries are not affected by ” this reorganization plan “.

“100% dedicated
homeopathy “

In detail, in addition to the Montrichard factory, 12 preparation-distribution sites will be closed, in Avignon, Belfort, Brest, Grenoble, Limoges, Niort, Paris-Bois d’Arcy, Paris-Ivry, Pau, Strasbourg, Toulon. ..

But also that of Isneauville. The latter has around forty employees.
Our seinomarin site is 100 % dedicated to homeopathy. 70 % of our figures result from medical prescriptions … “, declared its director last July to our colleagues on the site actu.fr, at the time when the government announced the total reimbursement of homeopathy.

The Lyon laboratory, world leader in the sector, highlights the role that he believes this decision plays, while the Hexagon represents almost 60% of its sales. Since January 1, homeopathy, which was reimbursed at 65% before falling to 30%, is now only 15%. This rate will drop to zero in 2021.
