The Blues to the top of the standings after winning 2-0

Newcastle United vs Chelsea in the 9th week Premier League it’s done. The Blues won 2-0, and temporarily climbed to the top Premier League standings.

Newcastle vs Chelsea match in St. Petersburg James Park, Saturday (11/21/2020) was running tight. Chelsea appeared nicely, and could excel from the first half through Federico Fernandez’s own goal.

Team Frank Lampard then added to the goal in the second half, through action Tammy Abraham. The 2-0 victory lasted until the fight broke up.

The victory led Chelsea while rising to the top Premier League standings with 18 points from 9 matches. Chelsea’s points are the same as Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur in second and third positions, and one point ahead of Liverpool in level four.

As for Liverpool and Leicester will compete on Monday (11/23/2020) in the morning, and Tottenham face Manchester City, Sunday (22/11/2020) early morning WIB. If Leicester, Tottenham or Liverpool win, Chelsea will again be eroded from the top of the standings they currently lead.

The course of the match

The first threat from Chelsea came in the fourth minute. Timo Werner fired a left-footed shot from inside the penalty box, following N’Golo Kante’s pass, but Karl Darlow kept the ball out.

Then, there are opportunities from Reece James. The Chelsea full-back fired a right footed shot from outside the penalty box, but still slightly off the mark. Same is the case with Mateo Kovacic, where his efforts were also still rising from the Newcastle goal in the 8th minute.

Newcastle tried to reply in the 71st minute. Sean Longstaff fired a long-range shot, and the ball just hit Edouard Mendy’s crossbar.

Three minutes later, Chelsea were able to get their third goal through Werner. However, the goal was disallowed because Werner was caught offside.

In the remaining game time, Newcastle put a lot of pressure on Chelsea. However, the visitors’ rearguard is quite tough, and can defend the net from being conceded. Until the match broke up, the score was 2-0 for Chelsea’s victory over Newcastle.
