Chelsea open Premier League 2020/2021 by picking up three points at home Brighton & Hove Albion. The Blues beat the hosts 3-1.
Chelsea face Brighton at Amex Stadium in the first week of the Premier League 2020/2021, Tuesday (15/9/2020) early morning WIB. Brighton is actually able to trouble its guests in this match.
They are superior in possession of the ball than Chelsea with 51.8 percent compared to 48.2 percent. However, the London Blue Team played more effectively.
Of the 10 attempts made by Chelsea, three managed to produce goals. Meanwhile, Brighton only scored one goal, despite releasing 13 attempts throughout 90 minutes.
Chelsea scored three goals with a penalty from Jorginho in the 23rd minute. They added two second-half goals from Reece James (56 ‘) and Kurt Zouma (66’). Brighton only replied through Leandro Trossard (54 ‘)
These results led Chelsea to third with three points. They lost on goal difference from Leicester City and Arsenal in second and first place. For Brighton, the defeat against Chelsea left them sinking to 16th place with no points.
The course of the match
Chelsea immediately fielded two new recruits this season, Timo Werner and Kai Havertz. In the early minutes of the match, the Blues seemed to have difficulty developing their game because pressing height that is carried by Brighton. The first 15 minutes passed without a chance from either side.

The ball headed towards Neal Maupay. However, the ball was not right on Maupay’s head so it was easily secured by Kepa Arrizabalaga.
In the 35th minute, the hosts again spread threats. This time through Alzate’s long-distance kick. Kepa saved Chelsea’s goal after flying to ward off the ball.
Although, Brighton controlled the match, Chelsea managed to maintain their lead until the break. Score 1-0 for Frank Lampard’s troops closed the first half.
After halftime, Brighton equalized in the 54th minute. Leandro Trossard fired a long distance from the left side of the Chelsea defense.
Goal!! Trossard’s kick ball slid swiftly into the right corner of Kepa’s goal. Brighton leveled the numbers 1-1.
Chelsea only needed two minutes to get back in front. Reece James took off a measured kick from the front of the Brighton penalty box.
Goal!! his kick towards the right corner of the Brighton goal without being dammed by Ryan. The visitors again led 2-1.

Chelsea away in the 66th minute. Starting from James’s corner, the ball was grabbed by Kurt Zouma’s kick.
Goal!! Zouma’s shot hit Adam Webster, turning it around and outwitting Ryan. Chelsea winning 3-1.
Chelsea who have been superior trying to slow down the tempo. Meanwhile, Brighton in stamina seemed to have started to decline midway through the second half.
This made them less aggressive in the first half and had difficulty dismantling the Chelsea defense. No additional goals were created in the remainder of the match. Chelsea closed the 90 minutes with a 3-1 win.
