The Black Crowes to Release Expanded 30th anniversary Edition of Landmark Album ‘Amorica’
The Black Crowes are celebrating the 30th anniversary of their 1994 album, Amorica, with a thorough super-deluxe box set arriving November 14. The release will feature new mixes of the original album alongside 14 previously unreleased recordings, offering fans an unprecedented look into the creative process behind the band’s critically acclaimed work.
Amorica solidified The Black Crowes’ position as a leading force in rock music during the 1990s, blending Southern rock, blues, and psychedelic influences into a signature sound. This expanded edition arrives as interest in the band’s catalog continues to grow, providing both longtime fans and new listeners with a deeper gratitude for the album’s enduring legacy. The release encompasses multiple formats – a five-LP set, a three-CD set, a two-LP edition, and a single-CD version – all available for preorder now.
The box set’s bonus material includes “tallest,” a previously unreleased track, and nine newly mixed songs from recording sessions for Tall, an unreleased album scrapped by Chris and Rich Robinson prior to Amorica. Further additions feature the Marie Laveau Sessions, comprising seven songs recorded during a soundcheck and subsequent New Orleans session on the band’s High As The Moon tour, and four recordings from a live broadcast at AIR Studios in London.
“Amorica was about breaking free and doing things on our own terms,” said chris Robinson. “It wasn’t about fitting into what was happening in music at the time. It was about trusting our instincts – and 30 years later, that’s still who we are.”
Rich Robinson added, “The bond between us, even when tested, always came back to the music. That’s what Amorica represents - our belief in ourselves and in this band.”
As a preview, the band has released “Bitter, Bitter You,” a previously unreleased song from the Tall sessions.
