The Best Way to Shave Armpit Hair and Treatment

Find out the best way to shave your armpits according to a dermatologist.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Everyone has the most convenient way to remove armpit hair. However, according to skin specialist Nessya Dwi Setyorini, there is the best way to shave armpit hair following treatment.

“My advice, use an electric shaver to reduce pressure in the underarm area,” said Nessya at the NIVEA #Self8ration of #PERFECTPROTECTION webinar, in Jakarta, Thursday (20/1/2022).

In addition, according to Nessya, a razor can be an alternative. However, make sure to use a sharp razor so you don’t have to press the armpits.

If it is blunt, the razor will press armpit skin to remove the natural oils. Be sure to change razors regularly.

Before shaving armpit hair, Nessya suggests applying foam or lotion. That way, the skin is more moist and wet so it is easier to shave the fur.

Underarm skin care

Nessya said that diet also has an effect on underarm skin care. Avoid caffeinated drinks, spicy foods, or strong smells.

Make sure to do regular underarm care. For example, using a moisturizer to reduce irritation due to shaving behavior and strengthen it barrier skin.

Applying creams that provide nourishment to the underarm skin or using deodorant/antiperspirant to reduce body odor. Avoid deodorant/antiperspirant that contain many irritants or other products, such as excessive alcohol, and excessive preservatives.

The next step is to maintain weight to avoid overweight or obesity. Do peeling to reduce thickness and lighten darkened skin.

Like what the hell armpit skin care? Nessya said, the main treatment is to take a bath twice a day and then use it hydrating or barrier boosting active. Examples include glycerin, linoleic acid, and niacinamide.

Occasionally exfoliate so that the thick skin or layer of dead skin that covers the armpits is removed. However, exfoliation should not be done often, just two to three times a week, for example with gentle scrub which contains AHA/BHA.

Nessya said, skin lightening ingredients can also be used, such as vitamin C, kojic acid, arbutin, or natural ingredients such as turmeric, lemon, cucumber which are believed to be rich in nutrients that can moisturize and brighten the skin.

To reduce body odor, try using dodorants/antiprespirant. Currently, according to Nessya, there are many products that are not only equipped with moisturizers, but also active skin lightening ingredients that can improve barrier skin and so that the armpit skin is brighter.
