The best book about the Ukrainian-Russian war in Donbass – Books – Culture + has been published in Latvian

This book is about love, although it doesn’t contain a single word that starts with “love …”. And it’s about magic – not the cute, traded from TV screens, but the real magic that comes from the family and roots, when you dive head first into the Ocean of the Dead and dive out of it with fish in your teeth. And yet – for courage. For the unconditional courage to find one’s own, to recognize it, to hold on with one’s hands and feet and not to give it to anyone. Your home, your homeland, your heart, your right to walk with your head held high.

The novel takes place in the spring and summer of 2014 in Donetsk. It is there that the heroine loses her family, home, work, illusions, and it is there that she gathers new fragments of life together, finds a new meaning and a new foundation under her feet. Step by step, the reader watches the sower be reborn in the fighter. This book forever changed its author and will change whoever reads it.

Tamara Duda – under this pseudonym, a translator became a writer, who became a volunteer army helper at the beginning of the war. In two years, she has traveled hundreds of times to the front line, leading the Ukrainian troops the most. She also kept a handbook in her pocket, knowing that if the separatists stopped, it would be easiest to go out of life and not be taken prisoner. He was motivated to write a book in spite of stories that could not be told.
