Driving a car is expensive… very expensive even. And the state literally seems addicted to various taxes affecting drivers. According to calculations made by Febiac, motor vehicles bring in 21.4 billion euros each year. A figure, compared to the number of vehicles, which places the Belgian at the first place of the podium of the most taxed drivers.

If we talk to you about automobile taxation, you will think of the annual road tax. However, the state coffers have the opportunity, on numerous occasions, to fill up thanks to drivers. There is in particular excise duty on fuels or even VAT on the purchase of vehicles, fuel, spare parts, etc.
As revealed by our colleagues from the “Parisian”, the Belgian is also the most taxed driver in Europe. If we take the tax revenue for each country, compiled by the Association of European Automobile Manufacturers, and divide it by the number of cars in circulation in each country, we notice that Belgium takes first place of the podium with the incredible sum of 3,687 € tax revenue per car in circulation.
► According to the Belgian Automobile and Cycle Federation, vehicles brought in $ 21.4 billion to the state coffers!
