On Friday, October 29, the Polish Foreign Ministry summoned the Belgian Ambassador in connection with the statements of the Belgian Prime Minister at the College of Europe in Bruges. Reported by the agency PAP.

“At 2.30 pm, we summoned the Belgian Ambassador in connection with the speech of the Belgian Prime Minister at the College of Europe in Bruges,” said Polish Foreign Minister Lukasz Yasina.

It is noted that during the opening of the academic year at the College, the Belgian Prime Minister recalled the interview of Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki to the Financial Times, in which the head of the Polish government reproached the European Commission for setting the task for Warsaw by “putting a gun to the head” and called on Brussels to abandon threats of legal and financial sanctions.

“What happens when the European Commission starts World War III? If it comes to that, Poland will defend its rights with any weapon that it has,” Morawiecki said, answering the question whether Poland could veto key EU decisions, in particular, climate change plastic bag.

Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo reacted to such statements.

“To those who give provocative interviews and believe that the declaration of a third world war on the pages of the Financial Times will not have political consequences for them, I would like to say one thing: you are playing a very dangerous game.
