THE BALL – Nadal reveals: «I was about to retire two weeks ago» (Tennis)

After the victory against the Lithuanian Ricardas Berankis (6-4, 6-4, 4-6 and 6-3), Rafael Nadal, who advanced to the third round of Wimbledon, left an unexpected outburst. The 36-year-old Spanish tennis player explained to journalists that he was about to put an end to his career.

Finally, he also spoke of the care he has taken against Covid-19, a situation that has already led three tennis players to withdraw from the tournament.

“It’s not paranoia, it’s a reality. A good friend of mine had to leave, Roberto Bautista. I basically just stay at home and go out to the tournament, which is what I’ve been doing for the last two years. I’m not saying it’s the right thing, because we’re going to have to get back to normal, but when these things can happen…”
