THE BALL – «I was surrounded by alcohol, cigarettes and other things…» (Colombia)

In a great interview with Canal 1 from Colombia, Jackson Martínez, a former FC Porto and Portimonense forward, confessed to having committed some excesses off the pitch throughout his career.

«I had a life of lust and joy in sins. I enjoyed them because I didn’t see them that way but as something normal, like everyone else does. You will never see God as everything until such time as he is the only thing you have, so I made the decision to focus on him. In my case, I started to feel that some friendships I had took me to parties, drinks… I was surrounded by alcohol, cigarettes and many other things too», admitted the former striker, who is now dedicated to the world of music .

Jackson Martínez, now 35, arrived at Dragão in 2012, coming from Jaguares (Mexico), in exchange for eight million euros. Serving the blues and whites, the Colombian scored 92 goals in 136 games, figures that caught the attention of Atlético Madrid, which in 2015 signed him for €35m.
