The leader of the Democratic Movement of Mozambique (MDM) party and president of the Municipal Council of the city of Beira, Daviz Simango, died this Monday.
The 57-year-old politician had been transferred to a health facility in South Africa last week after feeling ill due to health complications caused by covid-19.
The two fundamental political milestones of this civil engineer, who was running for election for president of the Republic of Mozambique (2009, 2014 and 2019), are for the first victory of an independent candidate in municipal elections and the creation of the MDM (2009), a training policy with insertion at national level.
