Celtic announced the permanent signing of Jota from Benfica. The Scottish club thus triggered the purchase option clause, after having had the player on loan last season.
In the announcement, Celtic does not reveal the value of the transfer, but A BOLA has already realized that it was fixed at 7.5 million euros for 70 percent of the 23-year-old’s pass.
Jota, who has now signed a contract with the Glasgow Catholics until June 2027, played in 40 games for Celtic last season, scoring 13 goals and 14 assists.
“It was a great experience last season. I already knew, more or less, how big Celtic was, but I think people only realize when they are inside the club and its structure. With the season we had, with all the victories and all the trophies, I think it was very good for everyone, and I ended up getting to know the club from a different perspective. I just fell in love. So I think it’s a good time to be here and I just want to evolve”, said the player, speaking to Celtic TV.
