THE BALL – Basque turnaround leaves champion (and João Félix) without the Supercup (Spain)

Athletic Bilbao beat Atlético de Madrid (2-1), in the second semi-final of the Spanish Super Cup. João Félix was a starter in the colchonero set and was highlighted.

The Portuguese international had a goal disallowed in the 10′, headed for Unai Simón’s own goal (62′) but it was not enough to prevent the defeat of the defending champion.

Yeray Alvárez (77′) and Nico Williams (81′) sealed the Basque turnaround.

With this result, it is Athletic Bilbao that will face Real Madrid in the trophy decision, scheduled for this Sunday (6.30 pm). Interestingly, the final of the Super Cup will pit two teams that did not win any domestic trophies last season (Atletico were champions and Barcelona won the Copa del Rey).
