The average number of coronavirus infections continues to rise and rose to 465.4 per day between July 23 and 29, the Sciensano Public Health Institute said in its dashboard data update on Sunday . This represents an increase of 78% from the previous week.

The number of infections in Belgium now stands at 69,402, against 68,751 on Saturday.
The number of new cases of Covid-19 per 100,000 inhabitants follows the same upward trend. For the period spanning two weeks, and until July 29 inclusive, 44.3 cases were identified (against 40.7 Saturday).
The number of hospital admissions is also increasing with an average of 25 per day (23 Saturday), up 84% from the previous week.
Sciensano also reports an average of 2.7 deaths per day. Since the start of the epidemic, 9,845 people have lost their lives as a result of Covid-19.
