On Sunday afternoon, August 2, a large-scale portrait of Gustav Mahler will be created in the square. It is a “forerunner” of a larger street art project – the large-scale Mahler wall, which the municipality is preparing for next year. The Jihlava artist, who calls herself La Papula, will paint acrylic on canvas on Sunday in a wooden frame measuring approximately one hundred times one hundred and twenty centimeters. The artist then dedicates the painting to the city. About a year, visitors will see him at an exhibition in the house of the Gustav Mahler Philharmonic in the concert hall. “In 2021, we want to auction the painting and send the proceeds to charity,” said Radovan Daněk, spokesman for the city of Jihlava.
