NEW YORK – Astroidwhich once wiped out the dinosaurs millions of years ago, was detected approaching Earth. The one kilometer long giant asteroid is expected to pass Earth on January 19 at 10:51 (local time).
As reported by the Daily Star, an asteroid named (7482) 1994 PC1 is getting closer to numi so it is classified as potentially dangerous by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).
The space rock, which is nearly three times the size of the Empire State Building, is expected to approach Earth at a distance so close that astronomers might see it through space at 70,415.237 kilometers per hour.
According to them, it will not approach Earth beyond a distance of up to 1.9 million kilometers, which is five times the distance between Earth and the moon.
According to the Inverse website, the space rock was first detected by Robert McNaught of the Spring Siding Observatory in Australia on August 9, 1994.
Astronomers have also discovered that the space rock orbits the Sun once every 1.57 years and will approach Earth once every 30 years or so.
The distance to be recorded this time is the closest to Earthand will not be the closest until the next 200 years.
