The parties forming the association of political parties “Latvian Association of Regions” (“LRA”) – “Ogres novadam” and “Regions Alliance” – have supported the decision on reorganization and establishment of a unified political party, LRA representatives informed.
On August 5 of this year, the general meeting of members of the political party “Ogres novadam” decided to reorganize the party and merge the party with the political party “Alliance of Regions”, thus moving towards a single political party – the Association of Latvian Regions. On August 8, the Congress of the Alliance of Regions also supported the decision to create a united political force.
“The creation of a united political force is the right decision, as it will allow us to defend the interests of our voters with even greater capacity both in each region and throughout Latvia,” said Dagnis Straubergs, Chairman of the Board of the Alliance of Regions.
Rūdolfs Kudļa, the chairman of the board of the party “Ogres novadam”, noted: “Taking into account our common goals and successful cooperation so far, we have taken the next step to unite in a single party. Our goal is to create the Latvian Association of Regions as a strong party not only at regional but also at national level “.
The LRA as a unified party is formed on the basis of the LRA, an association of political parties, which currently includes three parties and three associations. The solemn founding congress of the party “Union of Latvian Regions” will take place on August 22 this year.
