The art of the muses: music

Today I want to reflect on the plastic arts, music, the plastic arts and physical education. These three areas should be the foundation of the others, exercise causes neurons to make connections, and in this way they can be learned more easily, we learn to sequence and it would be worth reading, adding and for the rest of the learning. Let’s not forget the music, with which it is activated, is a cerebral gymnastics, just like the plastic one because with both the emotions are activated. Without emotion there is no learning.

According to David Bueno, “Plastic arts, like music and physical education, stimulate children’s brains”. Both are more important than we think, through them they activate neuronal plasticity.

In Primary I see a decline in these plastic arts, music should have more hours and children could learn to play any instrument and the harder it is, the more their brain development increases. Become enthusiastic about learning, and that enthusiasm makes everything more efficient. From Plato to Confucius, music was used to calm tension. Like Physical Education, which is also underrated, students are sometimes punished for not attending that class; for his bad behavior. I cannot think of providing such an important area for the development of the body and health, as a punishment.

The alphabet is learned by singing, if we are afflicted; music frees us and helps us with stress. Psychotherapist Paul Ekman suggests that all human beings share 6 basic emotions which are “happiness, sadness, anger, surprise, disgust and fear. We may have different educations and languages, but these emotions make us human and music gives us the opportunity to express them “

There is a tendency for children to go to music lessons during non-school hours and this often leads them to drop out of school due to tiredness and boredom; and takes away hours of leisure, hence the importance it would have for them to have more opportunities in schools.

Moving on to another part of the music; I want to refer to those artists who have spent 10 or more years in the conservatory, and who have an extraordinary sensitivity. I have witnessed all the efforts and sacrifices involved; prepare and study, practice for hours with boundless passion and be little recognized.

Birthdays, private parties, sessions in the hotel sector, where a musician, pianist, saxophonist, double bass, guitarist and other artists are relegated to the background, you see them playing in full sun, without giving them the place they deserve. When I was working in the tourism sector, I would walk past the piano bar of any hotel and see that an impromptu show received more credit than a musician playing the piano. People passed by without even stopping to listen to him.

For many years, in that Middle Ages, the musicians were servants of the nobles, they could not even sign their works, which changed in the Renaissance. They have not been evaluated and I have observed that in some areas it remains the same.

In my work as a teacher I have verified how with music they learn faster, from an alphabet or in my yoga classes, with meditation music they can be relaxed. Hence the importance that we must give to this art, in addition to those mentioned above.

“Music gives soul to the universe and wings to the mind” Plato.
