In the wake of the Golden September, a month of national and international mobilization against childhood cancer, the‘AREMIG organizes qfour actions including traditional hiking.
The context. In France, each year, 2,500 new cases of pediatric cancers are diagnosed. Unfortunately, they remain the leading cause of death from illness in children (500 per year). The considerable progress made in recent decades, however, makes it possible to cure 80% of these young patients, but some of them will have cardiac, neurological, motor after-effects… The operation September in Gold started in 2016 in France by the Gustave ROUSSY Institute aims to highlight for a month the fight against childhood cancer: its needs, its hopes, its stories, its actors. It has been relayed in Lorraine since September 2018 at the initiative of AREMIG.
Raise funds. Through its actions, AREMIG collects funds for research against childhood cancers. Last year, it mobilized more than 2,300 people and obtained almost € 15,000 in donations. For the 2019 edition, the association is launching four operations in Lorraine with the ambition to do even better: a tavern evening at the Cure d’Air park, on September 14 at 7 p.m. (Entrance fee 10 € for the benefit of AREMIG), the Fashion Kids fashion show in the large halls of the Hôtel de Ville, on September 21 at 2 p.m. (€ 5 entry) and the Ouistiti opera with entertainment for children and a sale of comforters at the Muse shopping center on 28 September from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.).
The program for the Fête ’Armemig Rando Festival’ ’. It is one of the major events of the association, this year it will be the 20th edition with the partnership of six sports clubs and the support of the services of the town hall of Vandoeuvre. The event will take place this Sunday, September 8, from parking lot 3 at the Brabois Children’s Hospital. On the program of mountain biking circuits with a ” VTT VTT Families ” loop, road cycling in the Saintois, a 5 km hike suitable for families, Rand’orientation and a Nordic walking course supervised by the COS de Villers . New for 2019: two trail trails in the forest, as well as an introduction to roller skating.
On returning from the itineraries, the volunteers open up the outdoor catering: fries, sausages, pancakes, ice cream, drinks … From 11 am various activities are offered throughout the afternoon with activities such as archery , climbing wall, fencing, games for children, pedal sulkies, make-up and various shows. Nicolas Vuillermot, double world champion in MTB Trial will make several demonstrations of his talent.
