The apartment of Che Guevara where he was born is offered for sale in Argentina Arab 48 magazine

The apartment where the symbol of the Argentine Cuban revolution, Ernesto Che Guevara, which attracts thousands of tourists, will be sold in the Argentine city of Rosario.

The apartment is located on the second floor of a five-storey building in the center of this city, about 340 km north of the capital, Buenos Aires, which is wide and bourgeois, and has not changed with time.

The apartment is currently owned by Argentine businessman Francisco Varroquia, who lives in Brazil. Farrukhia intended to turn the place into a cultural center, but this idea did not see the light of day.

Farrukhia told Agence France Presse that offers to buy the apartment had been received “from several countries”, refraining from disclosing the exact price of its sale.

The area of the apartment is 220 square meters, and it contains pictures of “Chi” from various stages of his life, starting in the first months after his birth, all the way to the famous image taken by him, the photographer, Alberto Corda, and she became a symbol of the Cuban revolution, in which he appears long-haired and bearded, wearing a hat Military green.

The building is classified as a historical site, and it is considered the main station in the “Chi path” adopted by the city municipality and includes the sites that marked the early years of Ernesto Guevara’s life.

However, a visit to the apartment is not open to a wide audience, and is only available to a number of personalities, and it is not certain that the future owners of the apartment will be willing to preserve its historical character.

The historian Fabian Bazan, author of “Chigasey” which deals with Guevara’s relationship with the city of Rosario, explained that the birth of the Argentine fighter in this city was “a coincidence”.

The Guevara family, who had been living in Misiones, in northeastern Argentina, moved to Rosario to work, at a time when Mother Celia was close to the date of giving birth to Ernesto.

According to historians, Ernesto was already born on 14 June 1928 in this apartment, which was familiar at the time, although no documents confirm this.

Che’s biography was long outlawed in Argentina under dictatorial military rule (1976-1983), but this changed with the return of democracy.

Historian Bazan explained, “Rosario then began to restore consideration to Chi with the influence of the municipality, which is being run by socialists.” One manifestation of this was that his name was given to the city’s libraries, schools and sports clubs, and he stuck on a highway.
