The newly announced compact SUV Honda ZR-V is the Chinese version of the American Honda HR-V, which is also to appear on European markets next year.

Honda today announced a new compact SUV for the Chinese markets, called the ZR-V, which is expected to be manufactured at the local Guangqi Honda joint venture. The novelty is not to be officially introduced on the Chinese market until May 19, but pictures of the new car have already appeared on the Internet.
The design of the Honda ZR-V is almost identical to the design of the American compact SUV Honda HR-V, which was introduced a few weeks ago. At the time of the introduction of the American version, the carmaker promised that in time it would also arrive in Europe, where Honda already offers a different model of the same name.

Now the carmaker has revealed that a compact SUV called ZR-V will also appear in Europe, where it is to be included among the smaller European version of the Honda HR-V and the larger C-SUV model Honda CR-V. The differences between the American Honda HR-V and the Chinese / European Honda ZR-V are minimal.
The silhouette of the body is almost the same, but when looking at the bow we can notice slightly modified headlights with different light signatures and different decors around the lower part of the front bumper. Some body lines may also be slightly different.
The rims of the wheels are different and the larger sunroof in the ZR-V model, which is two-part, is interesting. At the rear of the ZR-V, we see a chrome decor in the lower part of the bumper, into which two exhaust tailpipes are integrated.

The carmaker has not yet announced what power units it plans to store under the hood of the ZR-V, but it is generally expected that the new SUV will be technically related to the Honda Civic. In the European version, where all models except the new generation of the Civic Type R are to be electrified, we expect a Honda e: HEV hybrid drive.
However, we will have to wait for more information about the new ZR-V model at least until May 19, when the Chinese premiere of the model will take place. The ZR-V model should reach Europe in 2023.
