The Cabinet of Ministers approved the alphabet of the Crimean Tatar language based on Latin graphics at a meeting on Wednesday, September 22.

The translation of the Crimean Tatar script into the Latin alphabet will be carried out until September 1, 2025. The basis for this is the decision of the Kurultai of the Crimean Tatar people of 1991-1993.

The alphabet of the Crimean Tatar language based on Latin graphics consists of 31 letters. It was developed in the process of consultations with the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, specialists of the Institute of Oriental Studies named after A. A.Yu. Krymsky, Institute of Linguistics named after A.O Potebnya, Institute of Philology, KNU named after T. Shevchenko and Tavria National University named after IN AND. Vernadsky.

Now the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of Reintegration, together with interested parties, have been instructed to translate the educational process, which is carried out in the Crimean Tatar language, including textbooks and manuals, into the alphabet based on the Latin alphabet.

It was also instructed to stimulate the use of the Crimean Tatar language based on the Latin script in other spheres of life.

Recall that earlier Cabinet has prepared sanctions for persecution in Crimea… They plan to include 70 people in the sanctions list who are involved in the persecution of the population in Crimea.
