“I have to convey an ongoing, objective legal process, so starting today I am withdrawing the Medan Police Chief to continue the investigation at the North Sumatra Police,” said North Sumatra Police Chief Inspector General RZ Panca Putra Simanjuntak, Friday (20/1/2022).
Panca said the withdrawal was made for an objective examination. After Riko was removed, Irwasda Polda Sumut Kombes Armia Fahmi was appointed as the daily executor.
“As of today, I appointed the North Sumatran Police Irwasda as the executor of the Medan Polrestabes task,” he said.
Previously, it was reported that the National Police Headquarters Propam intervened to check the news that a number of police officers at the Medan Polrestabes were said to have received Rp. 300 million from the wives of drug dealers in the trial of drug possession by members of the Medan Polrestabes Satreskoba. Medan Police Chief Kombes Riko Sunarko is said to have also received Rp 75 million.
“I don’t want to comment on the trial material. I have ordered the Karo Paminal Propam Polri to check with the Head of Propam Polda North Sumatra,” said Kadiv Propam Polri Inspector General Ferdy Sambo when asked for confirmation, Friday (14/1).
Sambo ensured that Propam would not indiscriminately take firm action against every member of the police force, even police officers, with a note that if they were proven to have received the hundreds of millions of bribes.
“If it is true that there are names that appear, we will definitely take strict action!” he said.
From the information gathered, in a trial held at the Medan District Court, it was revealed that a police official at the Medan Polrestabes received a bribe of Rp. 300 million from the wife of a drug dealer. The money was allegedly distributed to the Narcotics Head of the Medan Polrestabes in the amount of Rp. 150 million to the Narcotics Head of the Medan Polrestabes of Rp. 40 million.
Even the name of the Medan Police Chief, Kombes Riko Sunarko, was also dragged into the trial. Kombes Riko is said to have used the remaining Rp 75 million in bribes to buy a gift in the form of a motorbike. The motorbike was given to a TNI Babinsa.

“From the case handled by the Narcotics Unit, it was never reported to me. How can I share the money. The case was not reported to me. It was explained there, I ordered it to be distributed,” Riko told reporters, Friday (1/14/2020). 2022).
Riko also denied that the money was used to buy a motorbike for a TNI Babinsa. Riko confirmed that he bought the motorbike with his own money.
“As for the motorbike, I ordered it myself and paid it in full. And the price was not Rp. 75 million, it was Rp. 10 million more just it’s a motorcycle,” said Riko.
“The person concerned explained in court, what he said he heard from people, he did not experience that,” he added.
