La Taberna del Alabardero began its journey in 1974 at the hands of Don Luis de Lezama. It is a social initiative project, which from the first moment became the epicenter of culture and politics of the Spanish Transition, and a meeting point for diplomats, politicians, journalists, tertullians, artists and philosophers. Among its illustrious visits it includes that of the Spanish Royal Family or that of Popes John Paul II and Benedict XVI.
Its walls are full of history, memories and photos that show the history of Spain over the last forty-five years. In addition to the Washington DC headquarters, Taberna del Alabardero has other very popular locations, in Seville or Marbella and, recently, also in the Madrid town of Pozuelo.
