The aftermath of a supporting murder case Nupur Sharma, who allegedly insulted the Prophet Muhammad SAW made India hotter. There was tension in India after the incident.
This case occurred when two men in India sadistically beheaded a man, Kanhaiya Lal, who was said to be defending an insult to the prophet in Udaipur, India. The gruesome beheading was caught on camera and the video was uploaded online.
As reported AFP, Wednesday (29/6/2022), the victim who was beheaded worked as a tailor. He is known to have expressed support online for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) politician Nupur Sharma who made insulting remarks about the Prophet Muhammad and sparked global protests. After the case, the BJP has fired Nupur.
Local media reports said the victim, who has not been identified, shared a post in support of Sharma about 10 days ago and has since received multiple death threats.
It was reported that the perpetrators went to the victim’s sewing shop and disguised themselves as customers before attacking the victim with a large knife.
Additional police personnel were also deployed to Udaipur on Tuesday (28/6) local time to prevent inter-religious riots as a result of this case.
Who is Kanhaiya Lal
According to a report by the Indian Express newspaper, Kanhaiya Lal once had a case of offending other religions. He was even arrested by the police about three weeks before the murder took place.
Lal had felt his life was threatened. He even asked for protection from the police.
The police then invited a number of Hindu and Muslim figures to a peaceful meeting. After that, Kanhaiya Lal said that he “doesn’t have to fight anyone anymore”, a top police officer told the Indian Express.
