The action role-playing game Black Myth: Wukong impresses in its unveiling trailer

The Chinese game studio Game Science has unveiled Black Myth: Wukong – an action role-playing game heavily inspired by the classic Chinese short story Journey to the West.

The trailer – which you can see above – shows 13 minutes of gameplay, in which the main character Monkey King chops and chops through enemies, and explores the surroundings. There are hardly any details, and everything does not seem nailed yet, but on the game’s web pages it is mentioned that the developers are most inspired by action games with good stories, variations in weapons and skills. The game is made in Unreal Engine 4, and will be released on PC and consoles.

It is still a long time until something tangible comes out of the project. The developers describe say they are in a pre-alpha phase of development, and no release date is ready yet. In fact, the studio says it still employs ten people to work on the game.

Funny enough, the developers have also specified that they aim to release the game as a one-time paid product, instead of creating a free game with microtransactions. However, they do not rule out that they envisage perhaps selling downloadable content or things in the game, but emphasize that in that case there will be no question of microtransactions that affect the game flow or give a competitive advantage.
